A backsplash is a vertical extension to a counter—typically kitchen or bathroom counter—and has the primary function of protecting the wall behind the sink from being damaged by water. In today’s kitchens and baths we use the backsplash as the focal point, many times, to bring interest to the room at eye level.
In the past few years, the backsplash has become one of the more important pieces of the puzzle in the design. Coordinating or complimenting the backsplash materials with the countertop, cabinets and flooring is a challange sometimes, but with the many, many materials, textures and colors available, the finished product can be a work of art.
